Driveability issue

Check engine light came on in my 03 Focus ZTW, 2.3 l with 310k on it. Dropped in to my local Orielly's and asked them to read the codes. Came up IMCR Stuck open. Car was still running fine.
The fine young man offered to clear the codes, did and we went to see what price on parts would be. They did not stock the parts, so I headed home to call Ford.
boy was I shocked! Car now ran horribly, racing, missing, cutting out completely. Heavy traffic kept me from turning or backing back into Oriellys lot.
Replaced both vacumn control modules on the intake manifold. No difference!
Took back to O's. No codes, no freeze frames, nothing!
Just barely runs, can't drive it.
What do you think? Where do I start?

Did you inspect the full system? The hoses and actual actuators? Did you check for a leak in the system. We had a house go bad and throw out different codes and the car ran terribly (old focus we owned for a short while). If you have even a little leak, it will affect the car.

I would start there. You could have gotten a bad module as well. If you have the old one, put it back in and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise, anything else would be a guess.
