Has anybody replaced their own TCM? Is it doable in the driveway? The dealers say they can't get the new part for months. I see them "new" online. Has anybody tried these. I know Ford has updated the TCM's many times. Maybe the ones for sale are outdated ones.

What year is your car? We just had one replaced on our 2013 under the extended transmission warranty. It's not hard to do, but I would check if it's covered before doing it myself.
And yes most of them out there are the ones with issues, needs to be the updated OEM part.

Yep,,,,, Ford covered the replacement. It wouldn't be that hard to replace yourself. The Ford part was $900, you can get it online for $165
